Totally non dental here, but spent Memorial Day with my family and it really hit me how much we owe the veterans of our armed forces. Their sacrifices are one of the biggest reasons we can enjoy living in this country. I know it has its faults, but also has some great opportunities and qualities. If you see a Veteran,or any one in the service of our country, be sure and Thank them for their service and sacrifice. Also isn’t the Memorial Holiday great, all the promise of a great summer ahead of us. Enjoy the season.
With the upcoming months many of us who are active outside will be reaching for our favorite thirst quencher. Keep in mind that many of the most popular “sport” drinks have a very high sugar content and a very low pH(they are very acidic). This is a very bad combination for your teeth. The high sugar content promotes tooth decay, and the very acidic nature of the drinks provides a double whammy by dissolving the enamel on your teeth. So use common sense when exerting yourself in the heat. Hydrate before, during, and after your activity with water. If you have to have a sports drink, use it in moderation and try to swish with water, and brush your teeth as soon after as you can. If you’re working and training to
stay healthy and in shape, an ugly smile is not going to do much for the image you want to project.
Hello, and welcome to my blog. I will try and use this space to update everyone on things I think may interest them, from the latest and greatest in dentistry, new services in our office, or just interesting things going on in the world around us. Feel free to comment on anything that piques your interest, or ask a dental question I may be able to answer.
